Pakistan will have 10 million Facebook users by 2013, said an inforgraphic published by B Solutions, a social media strategy company.

B solutions projected that estimated number of Facebook users in Pakistan will cross 10 million mark by 2013, which are currently reported to be around 6.4 million users.

Infographic said that 18-24 years of age group constitutes a total of 51 percent users on Facebook from Pakistan. Overall there are 69 percent male users as compared to 31 percent female Facebook users in Pakistan.

Historic Win: Social Media Beats Corrupt Media

Revolution, probably the most used word as a catch-line by the politicians of all eras in Pakistan, seemed like a nearing reality today when a video of off-air conversation between Mubashir Luqman and Mehr Bukhari interviewing Malik Riaz, the real-estate tycoon went loose on internet.

Malik Riaz is a party of suo moto case in Supreme Court, termed as Family Gate and Behria Gate, in which Mr. Riaz has alleged Dr. Arsalan Iftikhar, the son of Chief Justice of Pakistan for blackmailing him and his family members.

Malik Riaz last night did an exclusive interview with Mubashir Luqman and Mehr Bukhari on Dunya TV, in which he tried to defend his case over the media. The very next day i.e. today the off-air conversation between both the anchors and Malik Riaz was leaked on Youtube.

The video has been shared by millions of internet users over Facebook, Twitter and YouTube in less than just 10 hours.

The video shows that the whole interview was planted in which both the anchors got instructions for not interrupting Malik Riaz during the interview while Malik Riaz helped the anchors in preparing the questions.

We are of course not going to drag your attention to what was discussed in this leaked video, or what political and economical impacts this activity is going to make. Rather, I will focus on unleashing power the social media has gained over the years.

Today’s incident is the true depiction of the change that Social Media can bring in societies, especially where all other pillars of society are either corrupt or not trust worthy. If united and focused, Social Media community of Pakistan can undress the shameless and corrupt characters of the country.

With over 6 million Facebook users and 25 million overall internet users in Pakistan, this roaring digital community has all sufficient muscles to bring down the empires and tycoons that like Malik Riaz or Mubashir Luqman.

This is what exactly happened in fact, just if you don’t know, Mubashir Luqman has already been dismissed for off-the script conversation while Malik Riaz would be feeling like a doomed king.

Every year the top security companies fight to see who can be the first to get their next generation suites out to the public. Last year Symantec did well, revealing Internet Security 2012 in April 2011. But this year Kaspersky Lab is the clear victor, as today they’ve released the first beta of Kaspersky Internet Security 2013.

This isn’t anything like as polished as some of the betas we’ve seen, though. The interface isn’t finished, for instance, and the build has Application Verifier and trace logging turned on, which means it will slow your PC down considerably. You won’t want to leave the suite installed for long.

And as a further complication, there’s no official announcement of what’s new yet. You’ll need to be familiar with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 to spot any improvements.

At a first look, though, the suite seems to contain a new Secure Keyboard tool, which works with your regular keyboard to protect the data you enter at key websites (banks, social networks, password fields in general) from keyloggers. But if you were happy with the old Virtual Keyboard then don’t worry – that’s available, too.

It looks like the Safe Banking feature has been extended, automatically running a protected browser to safely access your bank sites, payment providers such as Paypal, and others.

And elsewhere, it appears that Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 is streamlining its protection a little, dropping tools like Safe Run and Proactive Defence and relocating their functions to other modules.

There’s nothing too exciting for the uncommitted user, then – not just yet, anyway. And the suite’s heavy performance impact means it’s not going to be for most people. If you’re a Kaspersky fan then you might be interested to see how many other new features you can spot in Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 beta, though. Just make sure you install it on a spare system: it’s really not ready for prime time at the moment.
